R. M. Kedia Eye Hospital

Established by MB Kedia Sewa Trust in 1975 to provide best available eye care services to the blind people of Nepal. A non-profit making, non-governmental, welfare oriented social organization. Affiliated to Nepal Netra Jyoti Sangh (NNJS) and Social welfare Council (SWC) of Nepal. The institute has been developed from 5 bedded eye hospital to 175 bedded institution providing tertiery level eye care services to the people of Nepal. At present its a landmark of the city working as pioneer institution.

Historical Background

Birth of the hospital with 5 bed capacity took place in a small building in Birganj, the commercial city of Nepal. To cope up gradually increasing workload, 25 bedded building was constructed which was inaugurated by late her majesty queen Aishwarya in February 1985. Increasing from initial 2 day/week operating days, the hospital started 6 days OT/week during the year 1988. Presently, hospital is well equipped with all the OPD, OT and inpatient services with round-the-clock emergency sevices and well trained and experienced team of manpower.

Beneficiaries

More than 50 million people are being benefited from quality services of this hospital. Its reputation and low cost services has attracted not only Nepalese people, but people from adjacent part or remote part of neighboring country India. The hospital covers around 2 million population of various districts of Nepal, including mainly Parsa, Bara, Makwanpur and Rautahat districts, while people from Sarlahi, Mahottari and Chitwan are also benefited. The hospital is well known for its services in various state of India including Bihar, UP, West Bangal, Jharkhand covering around 45 million people.
